"This cycle traces the evolution and transformation of one single bouquet of tulips. In this series, I deal with the inexorable process of decay to which all living things are subject. It is a study of mankind’s powerlessness in the face of nature. In the first bloom of a simple tulip, I capture the beautiful arrogance of apparent invincibility; by the end of the series, that certainty dissolves into overwhelming desolation."
